Through the Fence

These are photos from the football field at the school where I grew up. I decided to take a few "through the fence" shots, and the camera focused differently both times. It had kind of a cool effect. I hope the lower quality photos I uploaded here show the difference.

A Summer Outing

A few days ago Jennifer and I went out to take some summer photos, since the last time I took photos our surroundings were barely green. I got about 70 of them, most of them pretty good. The left photo is of a road at a local state park, taken as I crouched down to get a "from the road" view.

This is a photo of thistle blowing in the wind. The thistle is pretty thick at a spot where I like to run/hike. I had to avoid all the bumblebees that were swarming the area.

A Few Spring Photos

A view from above. This is where I often run in the summer. I run on the track and then run around the hills surrounding the track.

The second photo is of one of the hills. You can see Jennifer and Jonathan getting ready to ascend one of the hills. It all makes for scenic and challenging workouts.

A Few Photos I Took Around Work

I took this photo right after graduation this past Sunday. It looks like something out of movie scenery.

This is the scene near the track at the school where I teach. As the tractor on the far right tells you, we are a rural school. I kind of like that though.

Memorial Day Weekend

This weekend I visited Kansas City and got a chance to see some friends of mine I have wanted to see for awhile: Chad and Charles. It was a great weekend and I hope to be able to go out again sometime soon. I am off today because of Memorial Day and I have been saving this flag photo for the occasion.

Tombstone Photo

I took this photo of the top of a tombstone at a Catholic cemetery. I got some of my best photos ever at this particular cemetery.

A Dogwood Forest?

There is a forest in the Hocking of Hills region of Ohio that is nearly covered with what I think are Dogwood trees. This two photo show how the landscape looks like someone took cotton and scattered it throughout the hills. Unfortunately, I couldn't get very close to take these shots, but you can make out what they are.

Football Field in Summer

In just 4 months or so, this field will be full of football players battling it out in the late summer air. Now, the field is peaceful and nearly abandoned, except for the occasional track meet that happens around it. I took this photo on a Sunday evening when nobody was around.

Happy Easter!

Today is Easter. I have taken a few spring photos today I thought I would share. The first one on the right is of the blooming tree out in front of my house. It seems that spring has all of a sudden just broken out everywhere. The grass is green, the trees are getting their leaves back, and I am getting a tan!

The photo on the right is of the view from a hill near the high school I attended. You can clearly see the spring breaking out. Soon this neon green will turn into the deep greens of summer. Once again, a Happy Easter to everyone!

Toads Among the Flowers

I didn't know my mom liked toads very well, but while searching around the house I found this little toad house with toads on top. It was pretty quaint.

Two Playing on Concrete

Our neighbor has left some busted concrete stacked by his house. Of course, this means that the pile becomes a cat play area. This is a photo of our cat Angel Two playing on the concrete. Zoe is under the pile and Two is stalking her. You can see how green everything is becoming.

An Early Spring Night

Last night Jennifer and I took a walk, and I decided to bring the camera along. I was hoping that by chance some flowers were blooming, but not many have yet. So I just took a few random photos. This one is of a lone tree near the edge of town. It is dark and it has that grainy look, but that is what gives it character I think.

Thinking of Autumn

I know that Autumn is a long way away, and we are just getting ready to see spring break out. However, I don't have any spring break photos. So as a tribute to fall, here is a scenic photo from the Hocking Hills region in Southern Ohio.
